Dobinsons™ proudly boast one of the worlds largest range of coil springs including raised height and heavy duty 4wd springs, lowered performance passenger car springs, O.E. replacement springs and heavy duty springs for commercial vehicles.
As Dobinsons™ coil springs are manufactured in-house, Dobinsons™ can manufacture smaller quantities and in most cases there are many different coil spring options available for your vehicle. This ensures the customer receives the best spring to suit their application and avoids a “One Size Fits All” scenario, especially important when selecting the correct spring rates and ride heights.

Dobinsons new coil spring cold roller is the latest addition to the coil spring manufacturing process. Cold rolling coil springs dramatically decreases production time without compromising strength or durability, maintaining the high quality you expect from Dobinsons.
Heat treatment is one of the most important steps in the coil spring manufacturing process. All Dobinsons coil springs are ‘hot wound’ and the hardening and tempering of our coil springs is completed by an extremely precise electronically controlled furnace to eliminate breakage and sagging. Each coil spring is precisely wound by a programmable logic computer to achieve perfect pitch. This precision is extremely important when manufacturing variable and progressive rate coil springs.
Engineered coil ends are designed to fit directly into the original vehicle mounting points without any modification. All Dobinsons™ coil springs are load tested and scragged 100% to eliminate subsequent spring sag, and ensure they meet and maintain the required specifications. We also perform spring fatigue and hardness testing using in-house state of the art testing equipment. A durable powdercoat finish provides extreme protection against the elements.

High Quality Spring and Suspension Components
With over 60 years of experience manufacturing in Australia, Dobinsons Spring & Suspension™ are no strangers to providing the highest quality spring and suspension components, and our range of leaf springs are no exception.
The Dobinsons range includes raised and heavy duty leaf springs for 4×4’s, heavy duty and parabolic replacement leaf springs for trucks and commercial vehicles, plus raised and replacement leaf springs for 4×2 utilities and passenger vehicles. In most cases there are multiple options available to ensure the correct leaf spring is available to meet most requirements.
Our design engineers ensure that all our leaf springs are designed specifically for each vehicle model, with consideration given to the load and height requirements for each application.
Design is one of the most important stages in the leaf spring manufacturing process, and with over 60 years of design and manufacturing experience, we recognise the importance of this.
Design features include Drawn, tapered and thinned leaf ends for even stress distribution over the entire spring pack, two stage spring design for the rear of most vehicles to achieve optimum ride and handling both laden and unladen and carefully selected leaf lengths and thickness’s to maximize the spring life, comfort, load carrying capacity, wheel travel and performance.
Dobinsons™ leaf springs are manufactured from only the highest quality raw materials. We understand the importance of selecting not only the highest quality spring steel, but also the correct grade that will give the longest life under the harshest conditions.
Manufactured to international quality standards ISO9001:2008 using premium grade Sup 9 silicon manganese spring steel, Dobinsons™ range of leaf springs are made to world leading quality standards.
Each Dobinsons leaf spring is shotpeened on the tension side of each life and completely scragged. This dramatically reduces the chance of sagging and breakage and doubles the expected working life of the spring. Random sampling from production is then also durability tested to ensure Dobinsons leaf springs will outlast the competitors.
For most vehicles, we offer multiple options to best suit customer needs, this ensures the correct spring rate is matched for the vehicle model and the accessories added. This provides a raised height where applicable without going beyond the safe design requirements to enhance performance, load carrying capacity and off-road ability without compromising safety.
Where possible Dobinsons leaf springs utilize full military wrappers and full length wrappers to provide additional support to the main leaf and improve safety.
Anti-Friction inter leaf liners are use to reduce the friction at each leaf end where the load is greatest and provides a smoother, quieter ride.
Dobinsons leaf springs feature high strength alignment clips with nylon insulators to reduce wear and noise. Nyloc nuts are also featured on bolted clips to prevent loosening off nuts which can cause tyre damage.

Shock Absorbers
With serious 4×4 owners now pushing their vehicles through harder, harsher terrain with more accessories fitted to their 4×4’s than ever before Dobinsons saw the need for a no compromise, performance engineered shock absorbers that offers the ultimate in performance.
Unlike some other brands, each Dobinsons shock absorber is designed specifically for the vehicle and application and is designed to perform best when matched with Dobinsons Coil Springs. In some cases multiple options are available to ensure the best possible ride, handling, comfort and performance is achieved for the complete suspension system.
Twin Tube Nitro-Gas
Designed, developed and tested in Australia by Dobinsons Spring & Suspension, in house suspension design engineers, Dobinsons 4×4 shock absorbers are designed and tested to perform in the harshest conditions right across the world.
As Dobinsons Spring & Suspension export to over 40 countries worldwide from their Australian head office, the importance of quality is at the forefront in the complete design and manufacturing process. This ensures every shock can withstand the blistering heat and corrugations of the Australian outback right through to the subzero temperatures of a Russian winter.
Where possible Dobinsons design each part number to provide a longer shock absorber for more wheel travel, firmer valving for a more controlled ride and a larger body with increased oil capacity for cooler operation than the original vehicle shock absorbers.
Other hidden design features also include thicker external tube wall thickness up to 3mm on Dobinsons 4×4 struts where other brands use as small as 1.5mm.
Selected Dobinsons 4×4 struts also include single piece drop forged lower mounting stems to provide far superior strength and reliability.
IMS Monotube Shock
Dobinsons IMS monotube shock absorbers are designed for next level performance over twin tube shocks in those hot, harsh, demanding conditions. By utilising the monotube design, Dobinsons IMS shock absorbers are able to resist fade far longer on corrugated roads, long or hard working 4WD trips, towing or racing conditions.
Composite piston wear bands, high quality Fuchs oil and a race style 3-stage sealing system offer the lowest levels of friction whilst maintaining durability and longevity without the need for frequent rebuilding or servicing. Dobinsons team of engineers spend hundreds of hours of testing and tuning the shim stacks and damping characteristics in each IMS shock to ensure a balance of comfort, handling, vehicle control and off-road performance.
The larger 50 and 60mm high flow pistons reduce internal pressures, reduce the heat generated, transfer heat to the body for faster cooling and offer improved damping performance and vehicle control at higher shaft speeds on rough terrain and during big impacts.
Threaded bodies on struts allow for fine tuning of height and offer further improvements in cooling. The micropolished, hard chromed and heat treat shock shaft, CNC aluminium high flow race inspired piston, and DOM seamless tubing body provides the ultimate in performance and off-road durability.

MRR 3 WAY ADJUSTABLE SHOCK ABSORBERS
Built on the back of the race winning Monotube Remote Reservoir (MRR) shock absorbers, Dobinsons new range of MRR Adjustable shock absorbers combine the best in high performance race-bred Monotube technology, with an all new 3-way damping adjustment system to turn your 4×4 into the ultimate off-road machine.
The new 6063 honed aluminium reservoir, revised light-weight floating piston, Carbon Fibre/PTFE/Disulphide composite wear band, improved 3-stage sealing system and the ability to run lower gas pressure with the addition of the reservoir compression adjuster, have combined to provide massive reductions in shock absorber friction, resulting in an improved vehicle ride and damping performance.
50mm and 60mm extra large bores, combined with remote oil reservoirs, provide the perfect housing for an enormous oil capacity and surface area to resist shock fade and maintain vehicle handling.
The 3-Way Adjustment design reduces the main piston working load, distributing heat more evenly between the main piston and the reservoir piston for reduced operating temperatures, and allows quick and easy damping changes for the ultimate in shock tunability in varying terrain and vehicle loads, to keep you controlled and comfortable.
The revised sealing design now provides a 3 stage FKM-HNBR shaft seal system that, when combined with the reduced operating frictions, provides a vastly increased service life with reduced wear.
Each component of the MRR shock absorber has been refined and improved to offer a higher level of ride quality, vehicle control and shock absorber performance.
